Whew! USCIS announced it will avert the previously-impending administrative furlough of more than 13,000 employees (roughly 70% of its workforce). The Service expects to maintain operations through the end of fiscal year 2020. The good news is that this was accomplished by reduction in spending; the bad news is these same spending reduction measures will have a significant impact on operations. In other words, we will likely see increased wait times for customer service responses, longer case processing times, and increased backlogs and adjudication times for adjustment of status and naturalization. Rose Immigration Law Firm will closely monitor these operational changes and will keep our clients informed as we learn more about what to expect.
