The last day for STEM OPT students to apply for an additional 7 months of STEM OPT is August 8th. To qualify for the 7-month extension, the student must:
• Be currently working on a STEM OPT 17-month extension;
• Request the additional 7 months by filing Form I-765 no later than August 8, 2016, but within 60 days of the date the DSO entered in SEVIS the recommendation for the 24-month OPT extension;
• Have at least 150 days of valid employment authorization remaining when filing Form I-765; and
• Meet all requirements of the 24-month STEM OPT extension requirements. The employer and DSO also must meet these requirements.
