The Fate of Daca

November 16, 2016

The Fate of DACA. The latest election results raise a lot of questions about the future of immigration. One issue in particular is the status of DACA (Deferred  Action for Childhood Arrivals). At this time DACA applicants need to make a strategic decision. Donald Trump threatened to revoke DACA as soon as he takes office. It remains to see if he will initiate everything he said in his campaign. If the individual’s DACA is about to expire, or if the individual is a first-time applicant, consider whether filing an application for DACA benefits will be worth it. On the one hand, DACA benefits are extremely valuable, providing the DACA with work authorization, the ability to get a driver’s license, and the opportunity to go to school. On the other hand, the cost of filing and the risk of providing personal data to the government when you don’t know the fate of the program might outweigh the potential value. Consult with one of our attorney to analyze the possibilities.
