Employers’Alert- Extended TPS for Honduran and Nicaraguan Employees!

November 7, 2011

Homeland Security announced on November 4, 2011, that Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for certain nationals of Honduras and Nicaragua has been extended an additional 18 months, through July 5, 2013.  The re-registration period will run from November 4, 2011 through January 5, 2012.  We urge your employees from these countries to re-register as soon as possible.

TPS for Hondurans and Nicaraguans requires, among other eligibility factors, that registrants have been continuously present in the U.S. as of January 5, 1999 and continuously resided in the U.S. since December 30, 1998.

Our office is available to help your employees re-register for TPS, and in limited circumstances, to initially register late.  Please contact us if you would like to consult with one of our attorneys regarding TPS eligibility for your employees.
