DOL iCERT Portal is Back Online

January 10, 2019

The iCERT Portal System, used by the Department of Labor (DOL) for various immigration-based filings, crashed on January 1, 2019 due to a large influx of H-2B applications. Within the first five minutes of the process, applications for approximately 100,000 workers were filed for a mere 33,000 available H-2B numbers. As these numbers suggest, the demand for H-2B visas has been increasing exponentially in recent years, while the supply remains stagnant. With such a shortage, businesses cannot sufficiently recruit for its short-term positions. DOL has added additional servers to support the increased processing, and the iCERT Portal System has been reopened, which will allow us to continue to prepare and file prevailing wage requests and Labor Condition Applications.
