It is great news that President Biden lifted the suspension on issuance of immigrant visas (permanent residence). This means that all intending/qualified immigrants can continue with their applications at the Consulate or Embassy. In taking this action President Biden noted that a ban on immigrant visas only served to tear apart families and deprive employers of needed and skilled workers. He also expressed concern that the ban would cause Diversity Lottery applicants to forfeit the coveted opportunity to live in the United States.
We applaud President Biden for taking this action and only hope the ban on nonimmigrant (temporary) visas will likewise be lifted. This would allow employers who rely on the foreign professional workforce, especially in the IT and manufacturing industries, to recruit talent from abroad. Internationally based companies with operations in the United States would once again be able to transfer highly skilled workers to the United States to manage and develop companies that help boost our economy. And lifting the ban on nonimmigrant visas would re-open temporary visas for artists, musicians, and athletes who bring culture, entertainment, and lively sporting events to our country.
Lifting the visa bans will be good for our economy. The attorneys at Rose Immigration Law Firm will be monitoring these developments closely.
