New Hopes for Business Immigration

November 29, 2020

Joe Biden will be the 46th President of the United States. What might this mean for business immigration? For starters, it’s a very good sign that President-elect Biden appointed Alejandro Mayorkas to head the Department of Homeland Security. Here is our partial (not exhaustive) wish list of what we might see during the next Presidential term:

• Enact DREAM legislation to protect DACAs and family
• Rescind travel and refugee bans
• Extend TPS and rescind the upcoming expirations
• Reverse the public charge rule
• Increase the number of employment-based immigrant visas
• Improve and expand the naturalization process
• Reform and expand the temporary visa categories

We will watch closely the immigration developments during President-elect Biden’s first 100 days.
