Premium Processing of H-1B Petitions Suspended

March 10, 2017

Starting on April 3, 2017, USCIS will temporarily suspend Premium Processing for H-1B petitions. This is particularly important because April 3, 2017, is the first day to file new H-1B cap petitions. So bear in mind that this year’s cap cases cannot be premium processed.

USCIS expects that this suspension could last as long as six months. If there is a circumstance under which an employee needs to travel after the current H-1B status expires, let us know immediately so we can assess whether premium processing is necessary. Fortunately, the suspension does not apply to other nonimmigrant classifications.
