]]> The National Visa Center (“NVC”) processes immigrant visa applications for employees who opt to process their visas abroad at a U.S. consulate. On July 29, 2015, the NVC sent mass erroneous notifications to foreign nationals that their immigrant visa cases were being terminated because the employee or employee’s attorney had not been in contact with the NVC for more than a year. The consequence of termination is serious because it would require an employer to start the petition process over again. Fortunately, the NVC is now correcting the problem and will send a follow-up email to confirm with foreign nationals their cases are still active. If your employee received a termination letter in error, contact our firm so we can prevent unnecessary delays or wrongful termination, and if a case has already been terminated, we can file to reopen the case.
