Petitioners will have to dig even deeper into their pockets to get a “quick” adjudication of certain cases through premium processing. By way of background, premium processing allows a petitioner to pay an additional filing fee in exchange for a guarantee that USCIS will adjudicate or issue a notice on a case within 15 days. The fee for this service was $1,440. But on October 19, 2020, the fee for all cases spiraled upwards to $2,500. Exception: The fee for H-2B and R-1 petitions increased only minimally to $1,500. USCIS is attempting to raise the regular filing fees as well, but that proposal has been enjoined by a federal court.
