Thousands of valued workers will be eligible to apply for adjustment of status starting on October 1, 2020. The Department of State released the Visa Bulletin that shows more than 260,000 employment-based visas available for the new fiscal year. Several visa categories advanced considerably, and USCIS announced it will use the more advantageous “filing date” to begin accepting applications. This means that workers from India, many of whom have been waiting 10 years or more, will be able to file their applications for permanent residence. Many other workers from every corner of the world will also be eligible to apply. Caveat: This only applies to workers who are immigrating based on employment. Details to follow as we begin working with our clients, their workers, and their families to undertake this important project.
